An introduction to Japanese braiding
Kumihimo bracelet kit: £2.50
This kit produces enough braid for a child’s bracelet or a short sample. It includes a slotted
card threaded with a variety of yarns.
Also included are:
a) general working instructions
b) finishing instructions
c) 12 pattern layouts.
Kumihimo key ring/luggage tag kit: £3.50
This kit is supplied with the key ring attached and ready to thread. It contains the same three instruction leaflets as the bracelet kit.
Kumihimo plastic disc kit: £10.00
This kit includes a plastic and a card slotted disc
16 Eze-bob bobbins - see Knitting Nancy Page (card bobbins are no longer provided) and an instruction booklet,“In the Round”, giving 12 patterns for the round braid.
The injection moulded disc is available in cream, brown, yellow or green. The advantage over card or foam discs is that the slots are wider apart allowing smooth movement of bobbins more akin to the movement on a marudai., thus making it ideal for working longer lengths,
Because of the wider gaps it must be used with the weighted bobbins and counter-weight.
The card or foam disc is recommended for use by children or for making short samples.
“Beyond the Round”: £3.00
This is the companion to “In the Round” and gives
instructions for round, square, flat and ric-rac braids, as shown in the picture. All these
are made without adjustment between moves.
The diagrams do not use numbers, thus allowing you to concentrate on the rhythm of the moves.

Diamond Spiral Necklace colours
The kit will make a necklace around 52 cm (20.5ins).
Kit includes: yarn ready to warp,
20g beads, clasp findings, PVA glue, card braiding disc, 16 plastic embroidery bobbins, general braiding instructions and instructions for the necklace.
Colours available are:black & sliver, black & gold, lavender & cerise, blue,
pale lavender, and red.
Colour of yarn and beads bay vary according to availability.
